  • 12/07/2020 - Comments: My students conducted a field study today about plastic pollution. The students went on a schoolyard scavenger hunt and chose 4 different types of small pollution pieces. Then they placed the pieces of trash in a beaker with freshwater. They documented how many pieces floated, sank, or stayed in the middle. Next, they added salt to the fresh water and documented how the plastic pieces sank to the bottom. They formed a conclusion that this why plastics/microplastics are extremely hard to extract from our oceans.
