  • 12/09/2020 - Comments: I am sure we could find data from the USGS.gov that showed us the speed plates are moving. IRIS Consortium also has an amazing online database of earthquake data that can be used. I don't know if this makes up a WeatherBlur investigation - but it sure is an interesting topic!

  • 12/07/2020 - Comments: Great question! Eventually that piece of oceanic crust will be reabsorbed into the Earth's mantle layer. Plate tectonics is really a big recycling system with crustal rocks being formed at mid-ocean ridges and then destroyed at the subduction zones that you describe. I love Plate tectonics...it drives our whole planet! It would be tough for us to test this collecting data from around our schools - but we can find data online from the USGS and other places to show how this works - like earthquake data. What do you think we might look for in that data?

  • 11/09/2020 - Comments: This is a great question! If the bags were always filled to he same level, then you could estimate the VOLUME of trash. If you weighed all the bags, you would out the MASS of the trash from each beach. What do you think would be more accurate?
